Just last night, Lifeline was thrilled to host a visit from GenMTL, a wonderful group of young community leaders taking an active interest in making a real difference in the lives of those in need. The group featured a number of highly accomplished professionals from a variety of fields, and we were surprised and delighted to see some familiar faces who came together in April of 2021 to raise money for our essential mental health and addiction support services in the wake of the pandemic.
The 2021 social media initiative, led by Marina Barr, raised $10,000.00 for essential mental health support for people living in isolation during lockdown, with a particular focus on youth at risk of developing serious screen addiction issues.
As incredible as it was to see people take action to help the vulnerable during a frightening and uncertain time, it is even more inspiring to see how they have gone out into the world and succeeded without ever losing sight of their responsibility to make their community a kinder place.
